Hills of dead

I remember very clearly the day I visited this place. It was particulary hot day in Taipei in 2014. I spent the day painting with my trusted plein air kit in his huge cemetery that looked like a dead town and oddly reminded me of ancient mediterranean. When I was walking it's terraces I already knew that I would be painting many variations of this.
Interesting to note is, that the cemetery itself didnt look like this, even when it started getting dark and there was a rainstorm coming the real place still looked different from what you are seeing now in the picture. But the feeling I remember was matched only after I made some big adjustments and went for this final look. Here, the outer world meets the inner one and together they create something new. This is really one of the most important pieces for me.
